The Burbank Community Band presents Milestones of Freedom, a free live concert in Burbank on April 11, 2026 at Dolores Huerta Middle School in Burbank. This special performance celebrates music, history, and community, featuring guest soprano Abiodun Koya and a program honoring milestones of freedom and resilience.

George Pennacchio is the longtime entertainment reporter for ABC7 Eyewitness News in Los Angeles. He has won five Emmy Awards for his work and has been honored with The Press Award by The Publicists Guild of America for his coverage of the entertainment industry.

Nigerian-born classical soprano
Abiodun Koya has performed at The White House, Madison Square Garden, for U.S. Presidents, and world leaders. Her extraordinary voice brings global artistry to this milestone celebration.

A Community ART SHOW – Local artists from California Creative Arts will present a courtyard art market during the concert, adding a vibrant visual arts experience to the afternoon’s celebration of music and community. The art show opens at 1 pm so you have time browse before the concert begins.

A complimentary stretch – StretchLab is offering free sample assisted stretches for concertgoers. Visit their booth to experience firsthand how personalized stretching can improve flexibility, reduce tension, and enhance overall wellness.

A book of poetry – In addition to sharing her voice on stage, Ms. Koya is also a published poet. Her collection features 30 original poems inspired by real-life experiences.

Burbank’s own mayor, Tamara Takahashi will be the Narrator for the West Coast premiere of Declaration 1776

California State Senator Caroline Menjivar’s office will be presenting the Burbank Community Band with a commendation in recognition of our service to the community.

The Burbank Community Band presents five free concerts every year, offering a wide range of music for a variety of tastes and ages. From seasonal favorites and timeless classics to original compositions, our performances are a celebration of community and creativity.

There’s nothing like seeing a child’s eyes light up when they hear a tuba or flute for the first time. Bring the whole family – you might spark a lifelong love of music in the next generation of performers and fans.
