Dust off your instrument and make music with us! If you can read music and have an instrument, you’re ready to play. The Burbank Community Band welcomes musicians of all skill levels—no audition required. Whether you’ve been playing for decades or are just getting back into it, there’s a place for you in our band. It’s more than music: it’s friendship, fun, and giving back by providing free concerts to the community.

No problem – that was true of almost everyone in our band when they joined. Of course, you’ll need to practice outside of rehearsal, but you’ll be surprised how fast it comes back! And, there are no auditions to play in the Band. So why not join?
We ask that you had experience playing your instrument at least one year at the high school level (even if that was MANY years ago). You also need to be able to read music. If you are a percussionist, you should be able to read rhythms.
You must be at least 18 years old in order to join the band. We have musicians ranging from college students to well beyond retirement, and every age in between.
1) Your own instrument, 2) music stand, 3) pencil for every rehearsal, 4) Uniform (For certain performances, the concert uniform consists of a black shirt, black pants, black socks, and black shoes. Members are responsible for providing these items. Other concerts require the BCB blue polo shirt, which is available for purchase through the Band.)
We get together every Friday morning 9:30AM-11:30AM (during our season, except holidays) to rehearse, catch up, and make great music. Regular attendance helps keep us sounding our best. We also pitch in with small behind-the-scenes tasks to keep things running smoothly. Can’t make a rehearsal? No problem — just give us a quick heads-up.
Nope — no auditions! If you’ve got your instrument, can read music, and are ready to have fun making music together, come on in.
Nope! Membership is free. If you’d like to chip in now and then to help with music, equipment, or other band costs, we’re always grateful.
